Sheriff: Driver of semitrailer killed after vehicle turns over in rural Peoria County

GLASFORD (HOI) -- Authorities say the driver of a semitrailer is dead after the truck tipped over while it was backing up a driveway.

The cab of the vehicle fell on a fence post, which fatally injured the driver, said Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell.

The incident happened at around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 13300 block of West Todd School Road.

The trailer that was full of dirt was in the up position while the driver of the semi backed it up a driveway. When the semi reached the highest point of the drive, it backed up on a small grade which caused the load of dirt to shift, causing the semi and trailer to tip over, said Asbell.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Asbell said.

The Peoria County Coroner is assisting with the investigation.

The identification of the victim has not been released.
