PEORIA (HOI) -- The last time the Peoria Mustangs won an NA3HL Central Division title was in the 2013-14 season, but on Wednesday night they moved one step closer to clinching the title.
Facing off against regular season central champion Rochester Grizzlies at the Owens Center, the Mustangs won 2-1 in OT to take a 1-0 series advantage in their best-of-three series.
The Grizzlies scored the game's first goal in the second period, but the Mustangs battled back and with just under three minutes remaining in the second period Quinn Murphy scored the equalizer.
After a scoreless third period, the two teams went into overtime where Tony Campise scored the game-winning goal.
The series now shifts to Rochester for games 2 and 3 (if necessary). The two games will be played on Friday (April 9) and Saturday (April 10).
