The storm system that brought showers and thunderstorms in two rounds on Wednesday will take its time departing the Heart of Illinois. The result will be extended light shower chances over the next day and a half.
Scattered rain showers are possible throughout the day today, but appear to be the mostly likely later this afternoon and evening. The cloudy skies and shower chances will limit heating today. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the mid 50s. Much cooler than the 80° observed earlier this week!
Shower chances will continue overnight as temperatures fall to the upper 40s.
Friday will begin with continued chances for scattered showers, so you'll want to have the umbrella out the door.
Skies should begin to clear by Friday afternoon and temperatures will warm as a result. Afternoon highs should range from the upper 50s to low 60s across the viewing area.
Another round of rain is likely for the start of weekend. Thunderstorm chances should remain south of the area for Saturday, but widespread rain appears likely. That round of rain will move out Sunday morning.
Sunday appears to be the pick of the upcoming forecast, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 60s.
The extended forecast features below average temperatures with highs in the 50s.
