“If anyone was at The Barn at the time of this incident, we want to talk to you. Please contact the Quincy Police Department so that we can get your statement,” Police Chief Rob Copley said.

Copley said a 19-year-old suffered injuries in an altercation with the owner.

On Tuesday, Quincy University student Jazzpher Evans, 19, told WGEM News that she was visiting the club with friends when a man put her in a headlock, shoved her to the ground, and left her with bruises and cuts on her face.

Copley said officers are working with the Adams County State’s Attorney’s Office in what he called a “complex investigation.”

Copley added that officers are watching police body camera video and security camera video from the bar. He said they are also interviewing multiple witnesses.

“While we understand the demand for “quick justice”, it is important that the investigation is thorough and proper,” Copley said.

WGEM News has attempted to reach The Barn’s owner for comment, but has been unsuccessful. A message was not returned.

Evans has declined WGEM News’ request for an on-camera interview.
