PEORIA HEIGHTS (WEEK) -- With warmer temperatures hitting Central Illinois last week, that meant the start of boating season for some.
Marinas along the Illinois River are getting their docks ready for the summer. That includes recieving boat launches as well as transient boats that dock at multiple spots along the river.
Bradley Scogin at National Marine in Peoria Heights says they're excited for boat traffic to pick up again after a slow 2020.
"The sun really brightens people up and they come out," Scogin said. "We're just looking forward to the Summer season and... turnaround from 2020."
Scogin says to take safety precautions on the water like wearing life preservers and to know the waters you are boating in.
"The boat market has really kicked up quite a bit, and we need to keep these people out on the water," Scogin said. "That's our goal here."
