One Class at a Time: Jenny Gilmore-Hocking

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Keeping this Pre-K group interested is a full-time job, one that keeps this Heart of Illinois teacher's hands full.

"There are so many things that we go through on a daily basis, in the classroom with young children that we just burn through so many things that we could replace so easily." -- says Jenny Gilmore-Hocking

This year is especially challenging for the teacher who goes by Miss Jenny.

Despite the hurdles, she says her students are adjusting well.

"We've had to learn to adjust our daily expectations and the kids have been so good with it. We wear our masks every day and they're just geniuses they're pros at it. They have no problem with it whatsoever."

Teresa Welton with Methodist Family Child Care Center says, "What she does for the children, which how she teaches the children and what they learn. She goes above and beyond does very many extra things."

Which is why Heart of Illinois ABC and CEFCU had no problem teaming up to hand her an extra $1,000 for her classroom.
