UPDATE: 4:15 AM: Sterling Avenue, from Gilbert to Forrest Hill, has been reopened after Tuesday night's fatal crash.
UPDATE (12:41 a.m.) - Peoria Police release a statement saying a woman was killed and four people suffered non-life threatening injuries in a multi-vehicle crash in the 2900 block of North Sterling Avenue.
The coroner pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her name is not being released.
The four people injured in the collision were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Sterling Avenue, from Gilbert to Forrest Hill Avenues, remained close while investigators processed the scene.
PEORIA (HOI) - Peoria Police confirmed one person died and two others were injured in a three-vehicle crash that happened Tuesday evening on North Sterling Avenue.
The crash happened about 8:45 p.m. involving a sport utility vehicle and two cars. All three vehicles came to rest near apartment buildings in the area.
Information was unavailable about the person who died or about the conditions of two other people who were taken to the hospital.
Police remained at the scene about 3 1/2-hours after the crash, and Sterling Avenue, between Gilbert and West Forrest Hill Avenues were closed so authorities could investigate what happened.
