‘More than likely a total loss’ after fire rips through Peoria home Thursday

PEORIA (HOI) -- Everyone is OK after a Thursday morning house fire that left the home "more than likely a total loss."

Peoria firefighters responded to the 1400 block of West Ann Street to a home fully engulfed in flames.

Battalion Chief Clint Kuhlman said the fire appeared to start on the front porch and extended into the first and second floors, as well as the attic.

Kuhlman said this made fighting the fire very difficult -- ultimately taking between 30-35 minutes to put out the flames.

The home's occupants were outside when firefighters arrived.

The cause is under investigation.

Damage is estimated to be $85,000.
