Cancer survivors host first annual fundraiser to help others going through chemo

SPRING BAY (HOI) -- A group of cancer survivor's mission to "cast a line of relief," to other people impacted by cancer hosted their first annual 'Castin' Relief' fundraiser Saturday afternoon.

Dozens of people came out for a family fun day in Spring Bay, which included a fishing tournament. The event also had music, bags and food.

Event organizer, Kalan Blum, said since she has been in remission, she had wanted to help others battling cancer.

Blum said the goal was to raise as much money as possible to help pay off people's medical bills.

"This is really exciting, during chemo I dreamed of having a fundraiser and meeting my friend who's helping, in 7 weeks we've put it together and have cast and release and it just is awesome," said Blum.

Blum said she was excited to see this fundraiser grow and help more people in the coming years.
