No injuries after Peoria apartment fire causes $50K in estimated damages

PEORIA (HOI) - Peoria firefighters responded to the 1900 block of N. Dechman Ave. at 12:17 p.m. on Wednesday to a two-unit single story apartment fire.

According to a press release, crews found the complex with heavy smoke coming from the front window of the apartment.

A search for occupants found that no one was inside the apartment at the time of the fire, which was extinguished by 12:30 p.m. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians reported.

The fire was quickly brought under control, and crews were able to prevent damages from reaching the adjoining apartment.

A Peoria Fire Department Fire Investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation. The estimated cost in damages is $50K.
