Wednesday apartment fire leaves three displaced, $85K in damages reported

PEORIA (HOI) — A Wednesday afternoon apartment fire in Peoria is still under investigation and three occupants were displaced, the Peoria Fire Department reported.

Crews were called to the singled-story complex in the 2000 block of North Gale, Building A, at around 1:56 p.m. for reports of smoke in the building.

Heavy black smoke was located in an apartment and high heat was coming from a bedroom. The fire was under control after 10 minutes and contained to the apartment.

No one was found within the apartment and the building was evacuated and checked for other fires and extinguishing hot spots.

The structure had heavy fire and smoke damage in one apartment and smoke damage throughout the rest of the building.

No injuries were reported in the incident and the damage is estimated at $85,000.
