PEORIA (HOI) -- Arts education is thriving at the East Bluff Community Center, with their new Creative Arts Discovery Camp.
The Peoria Art Guild is in partnership with the East Bluff Community Center to bring more activities to the youth within the community including clay, fiber art, painting, drawing, tye-dye, and so much more.
Today, campers did a "yarn bomb" as a way to showcase bright colors without damaging the environment. At the end of the week, they will paint a mural for the entire community to enjoy.
Nikki Wheeler, the education coordinator for the Peoria Art Guild says this camp is a great opportunity to bring art to the community, and the community to art.
"Some kids may not have the tools to really be able to express themselves and may find a unique media that they've never worked with before, and it just makes them come alive," says Nikki Wheeler.
The camp started Monday and ends Friday, but you can still sign your kids up mid-way through the camp.
They also plan to hold another camp during the winter break.
