Using countless hours to come up with creative learning opportunities for her students, teacher Jenny Gilmore-Hocking earned a One Class at a Time Grant courtesy of Heart of Illinois ABC and CEFCU.
"I was completely floored I really truly didn't expect it. A lot of people knew about it for quite a while is what I found out. I never heard a peep, none of my-coworkers, none of the students or families, it truly was a big surprise." says Ms. Jenny.
Now with $1,000 to spend, Ms. Jenny says she had a number of ideas in mind, but ultimately settled on something she knew the kids would enjoy.
"I ended up using a new math shelf to put the math resources on in our classroom. We have an older shelf and it's sort of long and it had two shelves. "
Allowing for more space and storage for the class.
"It's great for the kids because they get to see more options for them and more activities that work together. Just presenting them in a new fashion really got the juices flowing and the ideas going for them to come up and use those things."
