Locals Weigh in on the Vaccine Mandate

EAST PEORIA (WEEK)- Yesterday President Biden announced a more aggressive vaccine mandate for all health care workers, federal employees and contractors. Previously weekly COVID-19 testing was required for those who are not vaccinated, but that's no longer an option. The mandate marks Biden's most critical decision concerning vaccinations and projected to affect 100 million people.

A few locals in East Peoria voiced their opinions and concerns. Opinions varied from opposition, neutral thoughts and support in the mandates made by the Biden Administration:

“I don't think the government has the right to tell us what we should do with our bodies, our children. They don’t know us. They don’t know our personal medical history, so it’s not their place to tell us. It’s definitely none of their business what our jobs say.”

“I think it should be a personal choice that each person should make based on the information that they get. I think it we start forcing it now, what rights will we get later on?

“I’m all for protecting everyone and if that’s how we do it with a vaccine then I think that’s what we should do. I want me protected, my family protected, my community protected."
