One person hospitalized after kitchen fire in Peoria


PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - One person was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation Monday night after a kitchen fire caused smoke damage to a single story home in Peoria.

Crews were called to the 4300 blk of N. Nelson Dr. at approximately 7:50 p.m. Once Peoria firefighters and paramedics were at the scene, they found smoke coming from the front door of the home.

According to a press release, the fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the kitchen area.

Smoke damage was found throughout most of the home. An investigator at the scene determined the cause to be accidental.

No firefighter injuries were reported from the incident, but one occupant of the home was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

The estimated cost of damages is $25,000.
