PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - The River City now has a new shop for local residents looking to donate.

On Tuesday, Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of a new donation center in Peoria located at 10405 on Knoxville Crossing.

President & CEO of Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois, Don Johnson, said this new location is beneficial for people who do not want to drive long distances to donate:

"We know we can be more competitive up here in North Peoria... The more of these we have around, the more donations we capture, because we know people will drive 1-2-3 miles to donate. They're not driving 25 miles to donate."

While the new goodwill opened last Friday, some finishing touches are still being done to the drive-thru to make it easier for residents to drop off their donations.
