Coroner: One dead after I-474 accident Friday

3:00 PM UPDATE: All lanes are now open, according to Illinois State Police.

11:42 AM UPDATE: Peoria County Coroner Jaime Harwood confirmed to Heart of Illinois ABC that one man in his early 70s has died in the accident.

His identity will be released pending notification of family.

An autopsy will be conducted Friday afternoon.

8:36 AM UPDATE: Illinois State Police say one person is taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a two truck accident on Interstate 474 Eastbound in Tazewell County.

State Police say the accident happened around 7:20 AM Friday on I-474 Eastbound at milepost 10, a mile east of the Creve Coeur/Pekin exit.

Authorities shut down Eastbound 474 around 7:35 AM, with traffic being diverted off at the Pekin exit.

It is unclear how long the eastbound lanes will be closed.

You are being asked to take an alternate route.

TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. (Heart of Illinois ABC) -- The Tazewell County Sheriff confirms to Heart of Illinois ABC that the exit ramp to Eastbound 474 from the Creve Coeur exit is currently shut down due to an accident.

At this time, it is unclear how many vehicles are involved in the crash, or if there are any injuries.
