PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) -- Friday night, a community program was spreading the word, as a safe place for kids. It was an open house for the Boys & Girls club of Peoria.
The event gave parents an opportunity to see what their kdis do at the clubs' after-school programs.
Site Director, Jasmine Sargent, said after limiting capacity during the pandemic, they are ready to welcome more students.
"When you look at Peoria there's not a lot going on for our kids so we need to get back into the community and reach back out to our families and the kids, to give them something to look forward to. Something to take them off the streets," said Sargent.
