Three displaced after mattress fire damages Peoria home

PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) -- Officials say three people were displaced after a mattress fire broke out in a Peoria home late Friday night.

Around 10:30 p.m., Peoria Firefighters and Paramedics responded to the 3000 block of Northeast Adams Street for a report of a mattress fire in a two story residence.

Officials say all occupants were out of the home upon arrival, but the structure suffered smoke and water damage.

The Red Cross was contacted to procure housing and fire companies performed salvage operations to prevent further water damage to furniture and personal belongings.

Peoria Fire Dept. investigators determined the cause of the fire to be unintentional.

Officials say there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians, and the damage to the home is estimated to cost around $15,000.
