Ten fire departments responded to a massive fire at Raber Packing Company off Farmington Rd in Peoria Co. Thursday night.
Limestone Township Fire Chief Larry Gilmore says no one was hurt, but the roof collapsed. The call came in at 8:19 p.m., and, as of 11, the building wasn’t safe for firefighters to enter.
“Raber’s been around a long time,” Gilmore said. “He’s got a lot of packages in here, and it being close to the holiday all the owners are here so we’re giving them support.”
There’s no word on what started the fire.
The owners would not do an on camera interview, but said they were devastated that the fire came so close to Thanksgiving, one of the busiest times of the year.
