Peoria Rescue Ministries are making sure everyone gets to celebrate this holiday season.
The ministry is already home to roughly 80 men. Tomorrow’s special Thanksgiving dinner they’re expecting to serve over 100 people.
Today, Chef Joe Munds is prepping 16 turkeys to feed them all.
Tomorrow, two shifts of volunteers will help prepare the rest of the feast.. Volunteers will serve it up and then clean up the mess.
Lee Burnham is the Director of Men’s Ministries at the rescue. He said it’s much more than just a meal.
“I’ve seen so many men come and go, like i said I’ve been here 26 years. I’ve seen great stories, I’ve seen heartaches, I’ve seen many men died and buried,” said Burnham, “So anytime we can show them love when they’re in our building, that really means a lot to me.”
Burnham also said that he has the day off tomorrow but he plans to come in anyway.
