Saturday’s snowfall did not stop thousands of cheerleaders from competing at the 2019 IESA State Cheerleading Championship.
Just over 3000 girls from 87 competed at the Peoria Civic Center for their respective divisions.
The cheerleaders spend months perfecting the routines and practicing for the big day.
“It goes by super fast, when we practice I feel like it takes forever and I’m so worn out. But when I did it today I had a great time and it felt like we were only up there for a minute or something,” Washington Middle School Cheerleader Addison Heider said.
The categories teams competed in were cheering or routines, separated by team size.
