If you are looking to save on your monthly energy bill, there is a local group suggesting ways they can help.
The Citizens Utility Board brought representatives from various energy efficient and environmentally focused groups out to the educate the public on energy saving tips.
Residents were able to bring their electric, gas, phone and even cable bills for one-on-one help.
A major takeaway to help reduce your light bill, they say, is by switching light bulbs. Experts say LED bulbs waste in one week, the same amount of power a normal bulb does in an hour.
“We’re not saying change every light bulb in your house, but if you start seeing them on sale and start purchasing them and applying them in your home slowly, you’re defiantly going to see your energy use and bill go down quite dramatically,” Elevate Energy Representative Tina Marie Williamson said.
Representatives from those groups also taught homeowners how to weather-proof their homes by showing them ways to insulate windows and other problem areas which let heat escape in the winter or AC in the summer.
