Procession for fallen Fulton County Deputy brings dozens of squad cars through Peoria

Peoria, Il. (HOI) – Dozens of police cars line together Tuesday night to honor the Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy fatally shot this afternoon in Avon. Troy Chisum was 39-years-old.

The procession saw squad cars from State police, Knox County, Peoria County, the city of Peoria, and Bradley University, among others.

In Avon, Fulton County officials say it’s still an active scene as of 10pm Tuesday night, at the home where they responded to a battery and disturbance call before 2pm. Police say it’s an active situation and there’s no risk to the general public.

At our last check Tuesday night, someone was barricaded in a house and police had called for heavy backup.

Our Heart of Illinois ABC crew was staged in Fairview about 15 miles away.

Deputy Troy Chisum was killed some time after 2pm Tuesday afternoon. He was a 4.5 year veteran with the Sheriff’s Office, and was a paramedic with the Fulton County EMA and West Central Response Team.
