Overnight South Peoria shooting leaves one injured

PEORIA (HOI) — Peoria police have made an arrest in a Monday shooting that left one person with serious injuries.

In a release from the Peoria Police Department, Lawrence Burns, 24, was arrested for aggravated battery with a firearm.

Police were called to the 1600 block of South Griswold Street at 1:56 a.m. for five consecutive Shot Spotter alerts.

When on scene, officers located two adult males claiming to be victims of a residential burglary, with one of them saying he shot at the burglar.

Officers then located a 38-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds in an alley calling for help.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
