Bartonville police chief to be part of state’s Elder Abuse Task Force

SPRINGFIELD (HOI) — The Peoria area will be represented on the newly created Elder Abuse Task Force with the selection of Bartonville Police Chief Brian Fengel.

The task force was announced at the Illinois State Fair this week by Gov. JB Pritzker. The 22-member group will “analyze the effectiveness of elder protective services in Illinois and other states and develop a long-term plan to improve outcomes for older Illinoisans,” according to a release from the governor’s office.

“(Fengel) currently sits on the Silver Search Task Force which was passed into legislation Jan. 1, 2016 and has worked diligently for the last 23 years as an advocate for the seniors within our community and tri-county area,” according to a release from the Bartonville Police Department on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Reports of the task force’s findings and recommendations will be delivered to the General Assembly and governor Jan. 1, 2021.
