For Monica Murphy, there is nothing more gratifying than telling stories and connecting with people. Viewers have responded well to her natural on-air presence and storytelling.
Monica grew up with forty first cousins in South Bend, Indiana, and is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College. After college, she lived in Ghana, Africa for a year, teaching and writing stories about her students.
Starting in 2007, Monica captured and published human-interest stories for local, regional and national newspapers and magazines, including The Huffington Post. Her publications were opportunities to interview extraordinarily resilient people dealing with topics such as escaping poverty, surviving rape and overcoming addiction.
Monica also landed an internship with bestselling author, Adriana Trigiani, in New York City.
Prior to joining the 25 News and Heart of Illinois ABC team, Monica was an education reporter at WNIT, a PBS affiliate in South Bend, for a show called “Education Counts.”
Monica is grateful to be serving the people of Peoria and loves the beautiful parks, Illinois River and amazing sushi.
She wants to hear from you! The best stories come from you!
