Stephanie Rodriguez is a multimedia journalist for HOIABC News. She graduated from Illinois State University in May 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism with minors in Spanish and political science.
Though she was born in Puerto Rico Rodriguez grew up in Elgin, Illinois and graduated from Larkin High School. During her time at ISU Rodriguez was a reporter, anchor and producer for the student-run television station TV-10. She also worked in print journalism in college as news editor at the student-run newspaper, The Daily Vidette as well as having been the president of the ISU Spanish Club.
As a student reporter Rodriguez won a national scholarship from the Radio Television Digital News Association, having been named the 2017 Carole Simpson Scholar. She has received awards for her news reporting from the Illinois Broadcasters Association and the Student Illinois News Broadcasters Association.
Before joining HOIABC in June of 2018, she interned for two summers with WTVO/WQRF in Rockford, Illinois, with one being made possible thanks to the Multicultural Internship Grant she received from the Illinois Broadcasters Association.
She is excited to be a part of the News team and is happy she gets to continue telling the stories of Central Illinois.
