The Maggie Bertram Foundation Irishfest kicked off St. Patrick’s Day weekend Friday night.
The event was full of fried fish, pizza, and Irish dancers at Holy Family School. It’s all in honor of Maggie Bertram who was just 16-years-old when she was killed in a tragic car accident in 2012.
This is the foundation’s biggest fundraiser, and all the event’s proceeds go to fund local scholarships.
Maggie’s mom, Stacie Bertram , said there’s a reason they do this event around St. Patricks Day.
“She loved all these Irish. She was a Flynn’s Irish dancer starting when she was just six-years-old and I think St. Patrick’s Day was her favorite holiday so we decided to do the Irish fest to go along with what she liked.”
Maggie’s mom created the non-profit to support the things her daughter loved most. Now, the foundation gives $10,000-20,000 in grants every year to local schools, specifically for fine arts.
