The Peoria Fire Department responded to a fire in the 1500 block of NE Monroe St. Tuesday just after 5:00 p.m.
Fire officials on scene tell Heart of Illinois they found heavy smoke and fire at the back of the house and shed. No people were hurt in the fire, but two dogs inside the shed, died.
Fire crews were able to put the fire out within 10-15 minutes of arriving on scene.
The house was unlivable due to the damage and the Red Cross was called to help the seven people living in the home.
The cause is still unknown.
