UPDATE: One dead, one seriously injured in early morning shooting

UPDATE: The man killed in Tuesday morning’s homicide at the Taft Homes in Peoria is 18-year-old Louis Salazar.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Salazar suffered a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was pronounced dead on the scene shortly before 3:15 a.m.

Harwood said severe hemorrhaging led to Salazar’s death. Harwood did not disclose the caliber of the weapon.

Family members on the scene were able to positively identify Salazar.

The identity of another man found shot on W. Armstrong who is believed connected to the shooting is unknown. He is reported in serious condition.

6:14 AM UPDATE: Police report another male victim who they believe is connected to the shooting at the 300 block of Hancock was found in the 700 block of Armstrong. The man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

PEORIA, Ill. (HOI) — One man is dead after an overnight shooting in Peoria.

It happened just after 3:00 A.M. Tuesday.

Peoria Police spokeswoman Amy Dotson tells us a man was found down on the sidewalk with a gunshot woundin the 300 block of Hancock.

Police on scene said the man appears to be between 18-20 years old.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no suspect information at this time.
