UPDATE: 14-year-old suspect in custody for allegedly shooting 16-year-old in Peoria

UPDATE 9:48PM – Information led detectives to the 14-year-old suspect and he was taken into custody without incident in the 2300 block of North Delaware around 5:50 pm on today’s date. The juvenile was
transported to the Peoria Police Department and arrested for First Degree Murder.

UPDATE 6:56 p.m. – Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Peoria’s latest shooting victim is 16-years-old. Harwood said the boy was shot in the driveway of 711 E. Frye just after 4:00 p.m. He said police found him bleeding and unresponsive.

The teen was pronounced dead at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

The teen’s name is not being released at this time, and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

UPDATE 6:15 p.m. – Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood confirmed that the person shot
in the 700 block of Frye St. Wednesday evening has died. Harwood said the victim died at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

The name and age of the victim is unknown at this time.

Peoria Police are on the scene of a shooting investigation at East Frye and Indiana Ave. So far, we know one person is critically injured.

Police tell us it happened sometime just after 4:00 p.m.
