Suspect arrested in Bloomington fatal hit and run

BLOOMINGTON (HOI) — The suspect from Saturday’s fatal hit and run crash in Bloomington has turned himself in.

The Bloomington Police Department announced Jose Rodriguez, 27, of Bloomington was arrested Sunday for failure to report an accident, disregard of a traffic control device and driving without a driver’s license.

The incident took place at about 3:40 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Main Street and Macarthur Avenue. The victim, Corey R. Cotrell, 39, of Normal, was on his motorcycle when a van struck him. Rodriguez ran from the scene on foot.

Cotrell was transported to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center where he died.

Rodriguez is expected to appear in court today.
