Peoria Housing Authority has a new neighborhood resource center for families at Harrison Homes.
Today was the ribbon cutting for the new facility. They’re partnering with Peoria police and the wraparound center. The goal is to offer guidance for these residents to reach a level of self-sufficiency. Some of the coaching they hope to offer includes how to get a GED, find jobs, and more.
“We are asking them what are the resources they need to help move themselves up to become even more self sufficient, and so what we want to do is make sure we serve as the connecting partner to connect the resources to what our families needs are,” said Peoria Housing Authority CEO Jackie Newman.
She says they will reactivate a similar resource center at Taft homes.
