Peoria, Ill. (HOI) – A house has been demolished after a fire early Saturday morning.
The Peoria Fire Department was called around 2:30 a.m. for a heavy fire at 2412 NE Monroe Street.
Firefighters were forced to use a defensive strategy to put out the flames of the vacant house. Peoria Public Works officials said the house should be demolished as soon as possible.
A fire crew was still on scene around 5 a.m. to wet down hot spots until the demolition was finished.
Damages are estimated at $90,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
