We are in for a real rollercoaster of weather today. We’re waking up to some pretty dense fog around the area with temperatures hovering near freezing. This will create some slick road conditions through the mid-morning. This is especially true in the side roads, rural roads, & bridges, as these areas are not as well treated and more likely to develop a glaze of ice. So, the best advice would be to allow extra time getting around this morning.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is still in effect until Noon today. We could see some snow showers later this afternoon in areas East of the IL river. Here’s what our Precisioncast is saying for 10 AM.
We have a center of low pressure over us right now, that allows for calm winds and fog to develop this morning. This area of low pressure will push Northeast and continue to strengthen. So, we’ll see very strong winds develop this afternoon. A WIND ADVISORY will go into effect at noon today until 3 AM tomorrow morning. Winds this evening could gust up to 45 or 50 mph at times. This is especially dangerous for the areas that received high ice accumulations last night.
Today: Foggy conditions giving way to mostly cloudy skies. Morning highs in the middle 30s with temps falling through the afternoon. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph possible.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy to start, then gradually clearing skies. Breezy & cold. Lows in the middle teens.
