A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for much of the area. This advisory will go into effect this evening at 6 PM until Midnight Saturday Night. Areas included could see between 5-7 inches of snow.
There is also a WINTER STORM WARNING for Logan, & Mason counties. These areas could see 6-8 inches of snow. The warning is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 6 AM Sunday. These advisories and warnings stretch across a large portion of the midwest. So travel will be impacted across the board this weekend. Take caution driving this weekend.
The forecast models have pushed the track of this area of low pressure further to north giving us more snow. The heaviest snow will fall overnight tonight. Here is an idea of how much snow we’ll see by Sunday Morning.
This winter storm will significantly impact travel. Roads will quickly become snow packed and slushy. Let’s time out the snow over the next 24 hours. Models have sped up the snow’s arrival. Some of our southern & western areas will see snow as early as 10 PM this evening.
Then the snow will start to overspread the area by Midnight. Snow could become pretty heavy at times, This could lead to quick accumulations & hazardous road conditions.
Snow continues through the night. Moderate snow continues at 2 AM for much of the area.
Snow showers continue into the daylight as accumulations start to add up.
Some relief finally comes as the system moves away and snow showers become scatted by the afternoon.
If you are driving to cities such as Indianapolis, St. Louis or Kansas City be prepared for a long & slow drive. Make sure you remember your car winter safety kit.
