Two Tornadoes Confirmed From Saturday Night

Saturday night was a busy night across the Heart of Illinois as a strong line of thunderstorms moved through. This line produced multiple severe thunderstorms and prompted Severe Thunderstorm Warnings. Two Tornado Warnings were also issued.

After doing storm surveys, the National Weather Service in Lincoln has confirmed two tornadoes in the area. The first was in South Pekin in Tazewell County and the other was near Bellflower in McLean County.

South Pekin:

EF Rating – EF-1

Estimated Peak Winds – 105 mph

Path Length –  2.5 miles

Path Width – 200 yards

The storm survey concluded that this tornado initially touched down in an open field near the intersection of N Deppert Road and Christmas Tree Road. The tornado then moved ESE nearly parallel to Christmas Tree Road where there was tree damage to 4 homes. One shed was completely destroyed and a garage was shifted off of its foundation. The tornado lifted near the intersection of Christmas Tree Road and Tarpley Road.

Bellflower:

EF Rating – EF-1

Estimated Peak Winds – 100 mph

Path Length –  2.0 miles

Path Width – 50 yards

This tornado initially touched down in an open field just north of Bellflower. It continued to move northeast and damaged a machine shed and multiple trees while it was on the ground. It lifted when it approached N 4000 East Road.
