Central Illinois will see its first accumulating snow of the season on Thursday night.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln said rain early in the evening will quickly turn to snow. Total accumulation is expected to be around an inch, though areas north of Interstate 74 could see accumulation up to two inches.
The NWS said most of the snow will be in grassy areas, but there may be some slick spots on the roadways during the Friday morning commute. Roads will be slicker west of Interstate 55, where temperatures will be colder.
The snow should begin to melt by Friday afternoon.
